President Obama: Campaign Stop in Madison

We continue to follow breaking news out of Madison this morning. Emergency crews are investigating a home explosion that occurred around 4:45 a.m. at 413 S. Midvale Blvd. We are told at least 2 people (adult children) have been taken to UW Hospital. Four people were in the home at the time of the explosion (father, mother & two adult sons). The father and mother have been taken to the hospital by Madison police to be with their children. NBC15 reporter Tim Elliott says there was a smell of natural gas in the area when he arrived at the scene. (Note: natural gas normally is odorless. But a scent is often added to the gas so people will recognize it immediately). There is no word yet on the victim’s injuries, or any estimate of damage to the home. MG&E crews have arrived on the scene to evaluated the situation.
Madison Marathon’s Full Marathon Canceled
Breaking News: Madison Marathon’s Full Marathon (for Sunday) has been canceled because of predicted heat.
The “World’s Largest Brat Fest” kicks off today at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. To kick-off the event, it’s “Take Your Brat To Work Day.” Here’s a behind-the-scene photo from NBC15’s The Morning Show.

Picture from scene: This morning a vehicle smashed into a Madison gas station. This is along Park Street (at Olin Avenue). No word on the condition of the driver.
We reported this morning a driver was critically injured last night after a piece of concrete went through his windshield on I39. Here’s a picture of the windshield. Investigators are still trying to figure out where the piece of concrete came from.
